Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage large
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 oz
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 15 oz
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Boil cabbage leaves until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer half of the cabbage leaves in a baking dish. Spread the beef mixture over the cabbage leaves. Top with remaining cabbage leaves.
  • Pour tomato sauce and diced tomatoes over the top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes:

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with a plant-based meat alternative.
