cheddar or your choice
to taste
salt and pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Boil the onions in salted water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in milk and cream. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in grated cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
Combine onions with the sauce and transfer to a baking dish.
Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes:
Great as a side dish for holiday meals.
