Ingredients:

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the mixture is thickened and bubbly.
  • Add Velveeta cheese, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni in a mixing bowl. Transfer to a baking dish.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes:

For a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the casserole before baking.
