Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 bananas sliced
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup pecans chopped
  • 1/4 cup dark rum optional

Instructions: 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  • Add the bread cubes to the mixture and stir until the bread is well coated.
  • Fold in the sliced bananas and chopped pecans.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  • If using, drizzle the dark rum over the top of the casserole just before serving.

Notes:

This dish is perfect for a special breakfast or brunch. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
