Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried navy beans
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped

Instructions: 

  • Rinse the navy beans and pick out any debris.
  • In the Instant Pot, combine the beans, onion, molasses, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and water.
  • Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 45 minutes.
  • Once the cooking time is up, allow for a natural pressure release for 15 minutes before manually releasing any remaining pressure.
  • In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy.
  • Stir the cooked bacon into the beans and serve hot.

Notes:

For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon or use a plant-based alternative.
