Instructions:
1. In a large pot, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft.
2. Add the pumpkin puree, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir well.
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
4. Use a blender to puree the soup until smooth.
5. Return the soup to the pot, stir in the heavy cream, and heat through.
6. Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of nutmeg if desired.
Notes:
For a vegan version, substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth and heavy cream with coconut milk.
