kirsch or brandy

vanilla ice cream
Instructions:
1. In a skillet over medium heat, combine cherries and sugar. Cook until the cherries release their juices and the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
2. Add the kirsch or brandy to the skillet. Carefully ignite the alcohol with a long match or lighter. Let the flames subside.
3. Serve the cherries and sauce over vanilla ice cream.
Notes:
Be very careful when igniting the alcohol. Keep a lid nearby to smother the flames if necessary.
