Main Ingredients
4
cups
All-purpose flour
1
packet
Active dry yeast
1
cup
Warm water
1/4
cup
Sugar
1/4
cup
Butter, melted
1
tsp
Salt
1
Egg
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
2. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
6. Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Remove from the oven and brush with additional melted butter if desired. Serve warm.
Notes:
For a richer flavor, you can substitute milk for the water.
