Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup conch meat, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions: 

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Add the chopped conch meat, onion, bell pepper, and celery to the dry ingredients.
  • Stir in the beaten egg and milk until well combined.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  • Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes:

Best served fresh and hot.
