Oil for Frying
Instructions:
1. Cut the top of the onion and peel off the outer layer. Make cuts into the onion to create petals, being careful not to cut all the way through.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
3. In another bowl, mix buttermilk and beaten eggs.
4. Dip the onion into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk mixture, and back into the flour mixture, ensuring it is well coated.
5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C). Fry the onion until golden brown and crispy, about 10 minutes.
6. Remove the onion from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes:
Make sure to cut the onion carefully to create even petals.
