Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
Notes:
Decorate with icing and sprinkles if desired.
