Instructions:
1. Heat the cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
2. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for a minute.
4. Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Add butter if using, and whisk until melted and combined.
5. Let the ganache cool slightly before using.
Notes:
Ganache can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat gently before using.
