Ingredients:  

Dough

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup milk warmed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Filling

  • 12 sausage links cooked

Instructions: 

  • 1. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • 2. In a large bowl, combine milk, sugar, melted butter, and beaten eggs. Add the yeast mixture.
  • 3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • 6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • 7. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap it around a sausage link.
  • 8. Place kolaches on a baking sheet and let rise for another 20 minutes.
  • 9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes:

Best served warm.
