Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 8 slices Rye Bread
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Butter

Special Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Pickle Relish
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions: 

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  • 2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter and sliced onions. Cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • 3. In the same skillet, cook the patties until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • 4. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, and Worcestershire sauce to make the special sauce.
  • 5. Spread special sauce on one side of each slice of bread. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on 4 of the bread slices.
  • 6. Top with a beef patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of bread, sauce side down.
  • 7. Heat the skillet again and cook the sandwiches until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Notes:

Serve with a side of fries or a salad for a complete meal.
