Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil extra virgin
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 28 oz Canned Tomatoes crushed
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes optional
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil chopped

Instructions: 

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, sugar, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes if using.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in fresh basil and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and serve.

Notes:

This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for up to 3 months.
