Ingredients:

active dry yeast

warm water

lard or vegetable shortening
Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
2. Add the warm water and lard (or shortening) to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it on a greased baking sheet.
6. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
7. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes:
This bread is perfect for sandwiches or just enjoying with butter.
