  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 celery stalks chopped
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp salt to taste

  • Add the split peas, carrots, celery, chicken broth, water, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to manual high pressure for 15 minutes.
  • Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
  • Open the lid and stir the soup. Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.

Notes:

This soup thickens as it cools. Add more broth or water to reach desired consistency when reheating.
