Instructions:
Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add a bit of oil. Sauté the onions and garlic until translucent.
Add the diced ham and cook for a few more minutes.
Add the split peas, carrots, celery, chicken broth, water, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to manual high pressure for 15 minutes.
Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.
Open the lid and stir the soup. Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot.
Notes:
This soup thickens as it cools. Add more broth or water to reach desired consistency when reheating.
