Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Basmati Rice
  • 1 cup Mixed Vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 inch Ginger grated
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • to taste Salt
  • 3 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro chopped

Instructions: 

  • 1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 15 minutes, then drain.
  • 2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • 3. Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
  • 4. Add mixed vegetables and cook for a few minutes until they are slightly tender.
  • 5. Add turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • 6. Add the soaked and drained rice. Stir gently to combine with the vegetables and spices.
  • 7. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
  • 8. Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
  • 9. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot.

Notes:

Feel free to add any other vegetables you like. This recipe is very versatile.
