Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
Divide the batter into two bowls. Stir the cocoa powder into one bowl.
Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into a greased baking pan. Swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes:
For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of coffee to the cocoa powder mixture.
