Ingredients:

  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar optional, for sweet pies
  • 0.5 cup ice water

Instructions: 

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.
  • 2. Add cold butter cubes and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 3. Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together.
  • 4. Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • 5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and place it in a pie dish.
  • 6. Bake according to your pie recipe's instructions.

Notes:

Make sure to keep the butter cold for a flaky crust.
