Ingredients:  

Pie Crust

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup ice water

Filling

  • 6 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions: 

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and butter for the crust. Add ice water and mix until dough forms. Divide into two discs and refrigerate.
  • Roll out one disc of dough and place in a pie dish. Add apple slices, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • Roll out the second disc of dough and place over the filling. Seal edges and cut slits on top for steam to escape.
  • Bake for 45-60 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Let it cool before serving.

Notes:

For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples.
