English Muffins Recipe

Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk warmed
  • 2 tbsp Butter melted
  • 1 cup Cornmeal for dusting

Instructions: 

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  • Gradually add warm milk and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a round cutter.
  • Dust each round with cornmeal and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Heat a griddle over medium heat. Cook the muffins for about 7 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Notes:

These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
