Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and half of the sugar. Set aside.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and remaining sugar. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour the batter into a greased baking dish. Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the crust comes out clean.
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
Notes:
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
