Equipment

Ingredients:  

Dough

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cup Cold butter cubed
  • 0.5 cup Cold water

Filling

  • 1 cup Diced beef
  • 1 cup Diced potatoes
  • 0.5 cup Diced onions
  • 0.5 cup Diced turnips
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
  • Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into 6-inch circles.
  • In a bowl, combine beef, potatoes, onions, turnips, salt, and pepper. Place a small amount of filling on one half of each dough circle. Fold over and seal edges.
  • Place pasties on a baking sheet. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.

Notes:

Serve warm. Great for picnics or a hearty meal.
