Onion, thinly sliced

Swiss cheese

Butter

Salt and pepper
Instructions:
1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
2. Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Cook patties in the skillet until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
4. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and let it melt.
5. Toast rye bread slices in the skillet until golden brown.
6. Assemble the patty melts by placing a patty with melted cheese and caramelized onions between two slices of toasted rye bread.
Notes:
For extra flavor, you can add a slice of tomato or some pickles.
