Instructions:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
Pour in vegetable broth, add sugar, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes.
Blend the soup until smooth.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes:
For a creamier texture, add a splash of cream before blending.
