Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bread
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions: 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar to the skillet. Stir to combine and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place half of the bread, buttered side down, in a baking dish.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly over the bread. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes:

Feel free to add some diced onions or bell peppers to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
