Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup for serving

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Place the bread cubes in the baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, making sure all pieces are coated.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes:

For a richer flavor, prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate. Bake in the morning.
