Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter cold, cut into pieces

Instructions: 

  • 1. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the bread cubes in the dish.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread.
  • 3. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  • 4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • 5. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the bread mixture.
  • 6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  • 7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes:

For a twist, try adding some fresh berries or a drizzle of maple syrup on top before serving.
