Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and translucent.
In a baking dish, layer the cooked onions, shredded cheese, and bread crumbs.
Pour the milk over the layers and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
