Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bread preferably day-old
  • 6 oz Ham thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Gruyere Cheese shredded
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black Pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • Layer half of the bread slices in the bottom of the dish.
  • Top with ham and half of the cheese.
  • Layer the remaining bread slices on top.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread layers.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and the casserole is set.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes:

For an extra touch, you can add a fried egg on top of each serving.
