Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until onion is translucent.
  • In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Spread the ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Layer the remaining potatoes on top.
  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  • Pour the sauce over the casserole. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes:

Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
