Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup rice cooked
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 can sauerkraut (14 oz), drained
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until beef is browned. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked beef mixture, cooked rice, tomato sauce, sauerkraut, salt, and pepper.
  • Layer half of the chopped cabbage in a baking dish. Spread the beef mixture over the cabbage. Top with remaining cabbage.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, or until cabbage is tender.
  • Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes:

This casserole is a great way to enjoy the flavors of cabbage rolls without the fuss of rolling them individually.
