shredded cheddar cheese

bread crumbs

butter
melted
to taste
salt and pepper
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large pot, boil the squash and onion until tender. Drain well.
In a mixing bowl, combine the squash, onion, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. Mix well.
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle over the casserole.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Notes:
For a spicier version, add some chopped jalapeños.
