Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, and beaten egg. Mix well and form into meatballs.
In a baking dish, layer the sliced Italian bread at the bottom.
Place the meatballs on top of the bread slices.
Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and bread.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes:
For a spicier version, add some red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
