Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter and stir in the flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
Add the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Mix in the frozen peas and cooked bacon.
Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
Notes:
For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add more peas or other vegetables.
