Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 package frozen tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove sausage and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add flour to the sausage drippings and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in milk, cooking until the mixture thickens into a gravy. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Return sausage to the skillet and stir to combine with the gravy.
  • Pour sausage gravy into a baking dish. Top with an even layer of tater tots.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until tater tots are golden and crispy.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes, until cheese is melted.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes:

For extra flavor, add chopped onions or bell peppers to the sausage while cooking.
