Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter cut into pieces

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a baking dish and place the bread cubes in it.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • In another bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the topping over the soaked bread cubes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.

Notes:

Best served warm with a drizzle of maple syrup.
