Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni uncooked
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are tender.
  • Stir in ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in milk and shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir to coat.
  • In a baking dish, layer half of the macaroni and cheese, then the sloppy joe mixture, and top with the remaining macaroni and cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and golden.

Notes:

Feel free to add some extra cheese on top before baking for a crispy, cheesy crust.
