Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage ground
  • 1 cup grits quick-cooking
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • In a pot, bring water to a boil. Stir in grits and cook until thickened.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cooked grits, sausage, cheese, milk, eggs, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until set and golden brown.

Notes:

Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. You can also add some chopped green onions or bell peppers for extra flavor.
