Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (24 oz)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions: 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add marinara sauce to the skillet with the ground beef. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  • In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked penne pasta, half of the meat sauce, and half of the ricotta mixture. Repeat layers.
  • Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes:

Feel free to add your favorite vegetables to the meat sauce for extra nutrition.
