Beef chuck, cut into cubes

Onion, chopped

Garlic, minced

Beef broth

Bay leaves

Carrots, sliced

Potatoes, cubed

Soy sauce

Fish sauce
to taste
Salt and pepper
Instructions:
1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
2. Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
3. Pour in the beef broth and add the bay leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the beef is tender.
4. Add the carrots and potatoes, and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
5. Stir in the soy sauce and fish sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
6. Serve hot with steamed rice.
