Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 kg beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 liter beef broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed

Instructions: 

  • Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until golden brown.
  • Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides.
  • Stir in the paprika, caraway seeds, and tomato paste. Cook for a few minutes.
  • Pour in the beef broth, add the bay leaves, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  • Add the potatoes and cook for another 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  • Remove bay leaves before serving. Enjoy your Austrian Goulash Stew!

Notes:

For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of red wine while simmering.
