Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole Chicken small, about 2-3 lbs
  • 1 cup Glutinous Rice soaked in water for 1 hour
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 2 inches Ginger sliced
  • 2 roots Ginseng
  • 8 cups Water
  • 2 stalks Green Onion cut into 2-inch pieces
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper

Instructions: 

  • 1. Clean the chicken and remove any excess fat. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water and soak for 1 hour.
  • 2. Stuff the chicken with the soaked rice, garlic cloves, and ginseng roots. Use a toothpick to close the cavity.
  • 3. Place the chicken in a large pot and add the water, ginger slices, and green onion pieces.
  • 4. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1.5 hours, until the chicken is tender and the broth is flavorful.
  • 5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot.

Notes:

Samgyetang is often enjoyed during the summer for its supposed health benefits. Feel free to add more herbs or adjust the seasoning to your taste.
