Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 lbs beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup dried lentils, rinsed
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper to taste

Instructions: 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and cook until translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add beef stew meat and brown on all sides.
  • Stir in turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon.
  • Add lentils, beef broth, and diced tomatoes.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until beef and lentils are tender.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Notes:

Serve with rice or bread.
