Instructions:
1. In a slow cooker, combine beef, beef broth, red wine, carrots, potatoes, onion, and garlic.
2. Season with salt, pepper, bay leaves, and thyme.
3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until beef is tender.
4. Remove bay leaves before serving.
Notes:
For a thicker stew, you can mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and stir it into the stew during the last hour of cooking.
