Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken cleaned
  • 50 g ginseng root fresh or dried
  • 1 cup glutinous rice soaked for 1 hour
  • 6 cloves garlic peeled
  • 2 slices ginger fresh
  • 10 cups water
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper freshly ground

Instructions: 

  • 1. Rinse the chicken thoroughly and remove any excess fat.
  • 2. Stuff the chicken with soaked glutinous rice, garlic cloves, and ginseng root.
  • 3. Place the stuffed chicken in a large pot and add the water, ginger slices, and any remaining garlic and ginseng.
  • 4. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 1.5 hours, or until the chicken is tender.
  • 5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  • 6. Serve hot, making sure to include some of the broth and stuffed rice in each serving.
