Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 500 g Beef, cubed
  • 1 cup Yellow split peas
  • 2 Dried limes
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil

Instructions: 

  • 1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
  • 2. Add beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.
  • 3. Stir in turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Add tomato paste and cook for a few minutes.
  • 4. Add yellow split peas, dried limes, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  • 5. Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with rice.

Notes:

For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of saffron.
