Ingredients:  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef stew meat
  • 1 cup dried beans (kidney or pinto) soaked overnight
  • 1 cup barley
  • 4 potatoes peeled and chopped
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups water

Instructions: 

  • Soak beans overnight.
  • In a large pot, brown the beef.
  • Add onions and garlic, cook until soft.
  • Add all remaining ingredients.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  • Simmer for 8 hours.

Notes:

Perfect for a cold day.
