Ingredients:  

Stew Ingredients

  • 1 kg Beef Stew Meat cut into chunks
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 3 cups Beef Broth
  • 2 cups Carrots sliced
  • 2 cups Potatoes diced
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper

Dumpling Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 tbsp Butter melted

Instructions: 

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, carrots, potatoes, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt for the dumplings. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture onto the simmering stew. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes, until the dumplings are cooked through.

Notes:

Feel free to add other vegetables like peas or green beans to the stew.
